Lux Descendit : Howard J Evans

Howard writes : Lux Descendit was written just three years ago, and the inspiration was listening to a service on Radio 4 about the York mystery plays.
The song ‘Let all mortal flesh keep silence’ was used with the French folk tune ‘Picardy’.
My attention was grabbed by both the Advent significance of the song and its modal qualities,
with the lines from the song: ‘Christ our God to Earth descendeth’, and ‘Light of Light descendeth’.
There is an element of procession as the light dawns.
