1995 to 1996
Prior to assuming leadership of the Band, Roland had served faithfully as deputy to Geoff Otter throughout most of the time that he was bandmaster. It was therefore an easy transition since the band was well used to Roland conducting them.
Although his time as bandmaster was brief, Roland maintained the high standards that had been set by those who had preceded him and handed over to Garry Lawrence a band that had not diminished in any way.
